Ant

Household Ants

Did you know? Ants are not known to carry disease, but they do contaminate food and are quite annoying. Ants feed on a wide variety of foods, including sweets, starches, and greases along with other plant-based and animal-based substances.


Detection Tips

Ants are easy to spot. You'll probably see them:

  • On countertops
  • In food cupboards
  • In doorways
  • Near water sources like pipes and sinks

Cockroaches

Did you know? Cockroaches infest the kitchen, bathroom and other areas. They thrive in areas where food and water are available. Cockroaches prefer starchy foods but will feed on any human or pet food scraps, garbage, paper or fabrics soiled with food.


Detection Tips

You might have a cockroach problem if:

  • See them skittering about, especially at night if you turn on a light
  • Discover shell casings around the home
  • Smell a strange odor
  • See fecal pellets

Spiders

Did you know? Spiders are normally found in secluded areas of the home looking for warm, moist, undisturbed environments to spin their webs.

Wasps & Hornets

Did you know? Wasps and hornets love sugary things like partially-eaten fruit, sticky residue on soft-drink cans and grandma's leftover apple pie—which explains their presence at your family reunion picnic and their interest in garbage cans.



Detection Tips

To detect wasps and hornets, you'll probably see:

  • Nests or hives along eaves, in trees or in tree stumps
  • Small swarms around garbage cans
