Never seen a mouse or rat in the house but think you have a problem? Here's what to look for:

Mouse droppings: Smooth with pointed ends, usually 1/8" - 1/4" inch long, oftentimes found in groups of 4 - 6
Rat droppings: Shiny black and blunt at both ends, usually 1/2" - 3/4" inch long, found sporadically—one or two at a time
Gnaw marks: Small and scratchy, usually on wood, wires or other household items
Nibble marks: On packaged food or containers
Scuff marks or greasy smears: Along baseboards or around small openings
Wood chips or sawdust: Along baseboards, door and window frames or cabinets
Noise: Squeaks, rustling or scampering sounds in the walls
Upset pets: They get stirred up when they detect mice and rats in the house
Small tracks and tail trails: Usually in dusty areas
Musky odor: Let's face it, mice and rats just smell bad
