Usage Tips

When it comes to mouse control, you have two options: Traps and baits.

Traps

TYPES | Choose from glue traps, snap traps or our new Kill & Contain® Mouse Trap that kills mice the drama-free way so you don't have to see or touch them.

PLACEMENT | Set two traps 5 - 10 feet apart in areas that show signs of pest activity. Bait the traps with a non-perishable food source, clean up any alternative food sources and check regularly over the next few days. If you don't catch anything, try another area.

Baits

TYPES | Choose from bait blocks or paste packs that pests nibble, causing death within a few days. For exposed areas, consider a covered bait station to help keep the bait concealed from kids and pets.

PLACEMENT | Place in sheltered areas like behind appliances, under sinks, in cabinets or in other areas that show signs of pest activity. For mice, place baits every 8 - 12 feet apart. For rats, use the Ortho® Home Defense MAX® No Touch Bait Blocks and place baits every 15 - 30 feet apart. No need to unwrap the bait, the pests will eat through the wrapper.

Traps vs. Baits: Which works better?

Both are effective. You'll want to choose which one to use based on location of the trap or bait and whether or not you want visible proof that the mouse is dead. But no matter your comfort level, Ortho® Home Defense MAX® has the solution you need.
